Daily Fix: Saïfi Ends Five Month Goal Drought

-Forward Rafik Saïfi scored his first goal for his new club FC Istres in their 1-1 draw at home against Angers in their Ligue 2 Week 28 encounter. Saïfi, who joined the club on loan at the end of January, took advantage of a goalkeeping mistake to level things up in the 43rd minute after Angers took the lead in the 8th minute through a Modeste penalty. It was his first goal since scoring for Al-Khor on October 22nd in the Qatari League. Defender Amor Kehiha also featured in the game, playing the full 90 minutes for Istres. Despite the draw, Istres remain in the relegation zone with just 27 points from 28 games, 4 points behind Châteauroux who occupy the last non-relegation spot.

-Defender Chaher Zarour scored his second goal in as many as games as Dijon FCO won 1-0 at home against Guingamp. The only goal of came in the 80th minute off a miscleared corner, with Zarour there to take advantage and score his 3rd goal of the season. The win moves Dijon upto the 12th spot with 34 points from 28 games. On the opposite side of the field, midfielder Jugurtha Hamroun played the whole game for Guingamp, who still sit in the relegation zone.

  • Bastia 3-0 Arles : Fethi Harek played the whole game for Bastia
  • Tours 1-3 Sedan : Eyemen Henaini came on as a sub for Sedan in the 65th minute
  • Vannes 1-1 Strasbourg : Seid Khiter came on as a sub for Strasbourg in the 64th minute
  • Nîmes 1-4 Châteauroux : Abderaouf Zarabi and Mehdi Mostefa played the whole game for Nîmes
  • Caen 2-1 Clermont : Mickael Fabre, Ahmed Reda Madouni and Yacine Brahimi all started for Clermont, Brahimi was subbed off in the 81st minute
  • Laval 4-0 Le Havre: Walid Mesloub started for Le Havre and was subbed off in the 57th minute
  • Brest 0-1 Ajaccio : Carl Medjani played the whole game for Ajaccio
-In the Hungarian league, Nyíregyháza Spartacus managed a goalless draw on the road against 10th placed Ferencváros to extend their unbeaten run to 3 games. Midfielder Nacim Abdelali played the whole game for Nyíregyháza while his teammate Fouad Bouguerra remained on the bench. Nyíregyháza remain in the relegation zone but are now only 2 points away from safety.

-Finally, in the German Second Division, Union Berlin drew 0-0 in their vist to Fürth to face Greuther Fürth. Forward Karim Benyamina started the game, his first start in 7 games, but could not manage to break the deadlock. Union Berlin have not won in 4 games and remain in the 10th placed in the league.
